How it started
Born from 7 disconnected design systems
In 2019, we were managing seven completely disconnected design systems across a rapidly growing fintech startup. The "Button" component existed in six different variations, color tokens were manually mapped in Figma, and deployment was a guessing game.
We spent 40% of our engineering time fighting UI debt instead of shipping features. That frustration birthed Modly. We built a platform to treat design systems like software — versionable, testable, and composable.
Today, we're on a mission to fix that for everyone. We've grown from a garage project to a platform trusted by 2,400+ product teams, but our obsession with solving the "design system chaos" problem remains exactly the same.
